When it comes to rebuilding the hairline with hair grafts, Mr. Johnson explained that they use 1 and 2 hair follicular units to create a "soft" hairline edge. This new hairline edge takes approximately 150-200 small follicular units to complete from left temple to right temple. When deciding where to begin the new hairline, Mr. Johnson said a patient should place their four fingers sideways against their forehead with their "pinkie" finger at the bottom. The pinkie finger should touch the bridge of the nose, between the eyebrows. The new hairline will then start where the index finger ends at the top of the forehead.

Like most hair transplant professionals, Mr. Johnson said he doesn't like to position the hairline too low. "It doesn't look good or natural to have a hairline like a teenager or a 20 year old unless you are experiencing premature hair loss as a teenager”.

He explained that they like to create a new hairline similar to that of a 30 year-old. A 30 year-old's hairline looks good and natural when our hair transplant patients gets into their 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and beyond.
